Behaviour for Learning
At Oakview everything we do is guided by our core values, Aspire. Achieve. Act with Kindness. As such our key school rules are rooted in these principles. All members of our community are expected to follow these rules and display these core values:
Our School Rules at Oakview
We follow three simple rules to help us become the best we can be:
1. Aspire
- We aim high and believe in ourselves.
- We set goals and challenge ourselves to improve.
- We try new things and never stop learning.
2. Achieve
- We work hard and never give up.
- We stay focused, listen carefully, and take pride in our work.
- We celebrate our successes and learn from our mistakes.
3. Act with Kindness
- We treat everyone with respect and care.
- We are helpful, polite, and welcoming to others.
- We look after our school and make it a safe, happy place for all
Rewarding Good Behaviour
When a pupil’s behaviour meets or goes above and beyond the expected behaviour standard, staff will recognise it with positive recognition and rewards as appropriate. This provides an opportunity for all staff to reinforce the school’s culture and ethos.
Positive reinforcements will be applied clearly and fairly to reinforce the routines, expectations and norms of the school’s behaviour culture.
Positive behaviour could be rewarded with:
- Verbal praise
- Communicating praise to parents via a phone call or written correspondence
- Celebration assemblies
- Showing good work to other classes, teachers, Assistant Head or Head Teacher
- Termly Headteachers awards
- Other appropriate rewards
Every half term one child from each class is celebrated as a "Values Champion" and enjoys a special reward such as hot chocolate with the Headteacher!
