Year 6 Crucial Crew
BackYear 6 Crucial Crew
Year 6 had a fantastic and informative visit to Crucial Crew, where they took part in a range of practical and interactive activities designed to help them learn how to keep themselves and others safe.
Throughout the session, the children worked with professionals from several different agencies, including the Ambulance Service, Police, Fire Brigade, NHS School Nursing Team and Lee Valley Regional Park. Each session focused on an important aspect of personal safety and gave the children useful knowledge that they can apply in real-life situations.
The children explored online safety and discussed how to make sensible and responsible choices when using the internet. They also learnt about the dangers of cold-water shock and what to do if they or somebody else gets into difficulty in open water. Another highlight was learning how to perform CPR, with the children practising chest compressions to the memorable rhythm of Baby Shark!
The different scenarios encouraged the children to think carefully about potential dangers, make safe choices and understand when and how to ask for help. They also developed a greater understanding of the important roles that emergency services and other organisations play in keeping our communities safe.
It was a brilliant opportunity for Year 6 to develop their confidence, independence and awareness as they prepare for the next stage of their lives. A huge thank you to everyone involved in Crucial Crew for providing such an enjoyable, memorable and valuable learning experience for our Year 6 pupils!
