Woodland Animal Names for Our Classes: A Fun Project Led by Our School Council

At our school, we believe it's important that every child has a voice in shaping their learning environment. That's why our School Council plays such a vital role in making sure the views of all our students are heard. One of their recent projects was an exciting one that involved giving each class a new, fun name!

The School Council set out to find a way for students to have a say in how our classes would be named. They asked children from across the school to share their ideas and listened carefully to everyone's suggestions. After lots of great conversations, they came up with a wonderful theme: woodland animals!

Here are the new class names chosen by the School Council:

  • Nursery – Rabbit Class

  • Reception – Mouse Class

  • Year 1 – Squirrel Class

  • Year 2 – Deer Class

  • Year 3 – Owl Class

  • Year 4 – Woodpecker Class

  • Year 5 – Fox Class

  • Year 6 – Wolf Class

This project shows just how much our School Council contributes to making decisions that matter in school life. It helps all of our children feel like they’re part of something special, giving them a sense of belonging and ownership over their school community. It also encourages students to take pride in their school and realize that their ideas are valued.

We’re incredibly proud of the leadership shown by our School Council and how they thoughtfully represent the voices of their peers. It’s a great example of teamwork and responsibility that makes our school a wonderful place for everyone!
